The "Increasing Resilience of Local Authorities for Forest Protection and Wildfires" project, led by Pozantı Municipality and co-financed by the European Union and Türkiye, has officially started. This important initiative will be carried out over 12 months in cooperation with Çukurova University, Karaisalı Municipality, the Municipality of Rafina-Pikermi and KEAN.
Our project aims to increase capacities for forest protection and for wildfire preparedness and response by encouraging the sharing of knowledge and good practice between local authorities on climate change adaptation and environmental protection. This comprehensive work supports the vision of building a community that is resilient to wildfires at regional and international level.
Milestones and expectations of our project
- Strategic planning and cooperation: Establishing sustainable cooperation networks between the municipalities of Pozantı, Karaisalı and Rafina-Pikermi is one of the cornerstones of this project.
- Training and awareness-raising activities: Training programmes and media campaigns for all sections of society will raise awareness of wildfire prevention and effective response methods.
- Technological infrastructure and platforms: Developing digital platforms that make it easier to share knowledge on forest protection and fire management is an important component of the project.
